But someone believes in 3D entertainment!

Wired claims that there are actually five jobs which will not be impacted by the financial crisis, and one of them is the 3D technology expert. Reportedly, Hollywood studios will increasingly invest their money in 3D productions. Additionally, 3D playback devices like TV set and home entertainment systems may become more and more popular in the next future.
The problem is that so far the web is inherently a 2D environment: how will the studios advertise their 3D movies on the web?

We live in a 3D world (let’s forget the time dimension for now) so it isn’t surprising that tech evolution in this area should meet our favour.
The problem is that our perception of the world is so well honed that anything trying to simulate it may look fake.
3D technology should first cheat our vision and then cheat our brain and this is very difficult because the brain reconstructs the 3D world using vision and other clues coming from experience.
This is difficult to replicate since it varies from person to person.
